As June and July have brought the usual cold wintery weather, this year there has been a stronger awareness of a potential shift in mindset thanks to our new public holiday for Matariki; marking a time for reflection and planning ahead. Embracing this moment can drive progress, or prompt planning for projects not yet started. For TechWomen, this moment of reflection highlights increasing momentum – the growing member count (now over 370), virtual events that regularly reach 250+ viewers, almost 50 mentoring circle participants, and now a growing library of Return to Tech digital content to support women entering (or re-entering) the tech workforce at any career stage. Whilst there are moments of reflection and transition in the calendars of every culture, there is never a bad time to ask yourself “what if” or “what next”. To create a diverse tech workforce we need more people to have that moment of reflection and ask themselves “what if” or “what next”, and to consider a change to a career in tech. If you’re receiving this newsletter you’re probably already here, and therefore this month, spread some inspiration… Find a piece of content on Return to Tech (or elsewhere) and share it to inspire someone else who is at the “what if” or “what next” stage of their career. Let’s use the momentum of this growing TechWomen community to pull others on board!
